Every holiday, I try to create some fun and festive breakfast treats for my kiddos. Valentine’s day is only 7 days away… So, I’ll be making a lot of heart shaped yummies, chocolate dipped everything, and add sprinkles! I really don’t think my kids would mind at all. They are a fan of anything pink, iced, and sprinkles. AND these Sweetheart cinnamon rolls were a hit!
These Sweetheart rolls are a great Valentine’s day treat for your loved ones and it only takes 30 min to make.
- Cinnamon rolls – I used Pillsbury Cinnabon
- Pink or red food coloring gel
- Valentine’s sprinkles
- small ziploc bag
- 2 baking sheets
- parchment paper
First, preheat the oven at 325 degrees F.
Now, release those poor cinnamon rolls out of it’s tube jail.
Seperate the rolls on a parchment lined baking sheet
Unroll the cinnamon rolls and cut them in half. If you want to make larger rolls, then move onto the next step.
Trust me, it’s a good mess.
Roll each ends in half way
Take both ends and bring them into the middle. Pinch the center of the rolls to make a heart
Bake these rolls in the oven for 10 min or until golden brown.
I also attempted to make a couple of jumbo heart rolls. These baked for 15 minutes at 325 degrees F.
YEAH, not feeling the love with these. The mini heart shaped rolls are much cuter. Notice the “w”? I called these wonky hearts.
Onto the icing – add 1 drop of pink food gel into the icing and mix it
Look at that color! My daughters called this princess frosting.
Place the icing in the microwave and heat it for 8 seconds. Pour it into a small ziploc bag and cut the tip.
Drizzle the icing all over the cinnamon rolls and refrain from eating any of them. Remember, these are for your little ones, that you love.
This is the part my toddlers love. I give the sprinkles to Michaela and Madison and told them to make it rain!
These are sooooooo cute! I know you want to make them right now.
Now, learn from my mistake and DO NOT leave these sweetheart rolls unattended. Little cute monsters will come out of nowhere and devour them before you had the chance to serve them on decorative plates.
I hope you enjoy these as much as my little ones did.
