DIY Vanilla Sugar
One of my secret weapon to a lot of my baking is Vanilla Sugar. It's simple yet an amazing ingredient. It's also very easy to make.
  • 2 vanilla bean pods
  • 2-3 C white sugar
  • 24 oz mason jar or any sealable jar
  1. Clean and disinfect the mason jar
  2. Dry the mason jar completely
  3. Put 2 C of sugar into the mason jar
  4. Split the vanilla bean pods in half
  5. Scrape the seeds from the vanilla beans
  6. Place both the seeds and pods in the sugar
  7. Twist on the lid and shake
  8. Let the sugar and vanilla sit for 1 week or more.
At least once a week, shake the jar to mix up the sugar and the vanilla pods around. This will loosen up the chunks of sugar and it will also help release the vanilla flavor. As you get low on the vanilla sugar, simply add more sugar and vanilla beans. Close the container and continue the wonderful process.
